When it comes to NXT UK, WWE really didn’t know what to do with a lot of the talent they signed. With just batch TV tapings and occasional Takeovers to work with, there was some talent that just fell to the wayside. One of these was Joseph Conners. Being in NXT UK since day one, as part of the tournament to crown the first ever NXT UK Champion – Conners has barely been spotlighted in the company. Now that is no longer an issue, and he is keen on getting back to what he does best.
Showing Up At A BWR Show To Attack Robbie X
Recently, Conners would show up at a British Wrestling Revolution to attack Robbie X after he’d successfully defended the heavyweight championship against Joe Hendry. More information was set to follow.
This came as a major shock to fans, as BWR is not a WWE affiliated promotion like WXW, Progress or ICW. If he showed up there – there was nothing fun going on, just WWE sending someone from the sidelines to add some excitement. However, this is Conners now being free again, and Conners would explain what is happening with a social media promo.
He’s Joseph Conners, And That Name Will Now Mean Something Again
The promo would say the following.
“What can I say? How do I even begin? All I know is I was fully engaged in the process of becoming a shell before myself. When I looked at my own reflection and saw what was looking right back at me dead in the eyes. I could see that disgust. I could even feel that shame. You know the really profound part of all of this? I’ve no one to blame but myself, I let this happen. I allowed this to fester, I allowed this to grow, I allowed this to consume me – I allowed this to exist inside of me until it was fully formed.
I let it define me. What for? hoping that someone will say, ‘Good job. Well done. Thank you, sir. Three bags full, sir. Please give me an opportunity. It’s something I’ve worked for my entire life.’ Never again will I be treated as a part of the furniture. Never again will I be made to feel disposable. Never again will I let somebody pick me up or for me into the street like a piece of common trash.
This is the important one. Never again am I going to look in that mirror and see those eyes looking back at me and never again am I going to see that pay and that weakness and that shame and that sadness and not feel sorry for me bullshit. I’m Joseph fuckin’ Conners, and that name means something. If you don’t believe me, I dare you to tell me any differently.”
Right now, Conners has a booking for Wrestle Carnival on February 17th- likely the first of many bookings to come.
