A TikTok video has gone viral after a worker at Pizza Hut refused to believe that a black customer had paid for her food online.
TikTok Video Goes Viral After White Man Working At Pizza Hut Refuses To Believe That A Black Customer Has Already Paid
Naturally, the employee was under the impression that the customer was trying to wriggle out of paying for the food. The customer in question, Deaisha Thompson, was outraged by such a thought.
In the video here, we can see the worker is on the phone claiming that someone has not paid. The video was captioned by the following comments: “Worker calls the police…for not wanting to pay him another $34 when I already paid.
“Pizza Hut worker calls the police on me because I won’t pay him another $34 and wouldn’t give me my food. The other worker ended up giving me my food.”
The video instantly went viral with over 50,000 views and counting. A large proportion of people were left angered by the conduct of the worker.
Some even went as far as to suggest that perhaps this was a racial issue, given that the man refused to comply, which forced another worker to step in and help the woman.
In addition, the very fact that she had paid online, could have been something checked out very easily. One person wrote: “They wield the police around like a weapon.”
While another stated: “When they call the police on a non violent situation, they know exactly 99% how you will be treated period.”
In the worker’s defence, a small minority of people suggested that perhaps the old man was not aware of or used to seeing people pay online.
However, at a time where online payments are a thing of the norm, coupled with the fact that there were other workers who could have easily pointed that out to him, this justification is not likely to hold much weight.
The worker has not yet responded to this controversy, but it is clear that something needs to be done in order to prevent this happening once again.
The only logical way of doing that is to make sure that all employees are clued up about online payments. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
