The OGK are one of the best tag teams in the history of Ring of Honor, but despite being the ROH World Tag Team Champions? They’re not the best tag team that ROH has ever seen. That honor goes to The Briscoes, who have been with ROH since day one – and claimed the tag titles 11 times. Tonight, they look to close out this era of ROH with reign #12.
The OGK TuThe Briscoesrn Back The Clock
The OGK brought back their OG theme song, and Taven started with Jay Briscoe. They’d clash before The Briscoes would get the two on one attack. Mark would nail some blows to Bennett on the outside, but Taven would fly out to do some damage… but got his own partner. Chairs were thrown into the ring, and Mark caught it before hitting a dive to the outside and got his target!
Back in the ring, Mark & Jay hit the double shoulder tackle on Taven before The OGK got a superkick into Purple Thunder Bomb for a two count. Jay was isolated, but broke free for the tag to Mark. Mark would nail a big boot to Taven, before being caught between the OGK and showing his redneck kung fu.
Some exploder suplexes would follow, and Redneck Boogie got a two count. Mark got the Iconoclasm, before Bennett got back into the match and nailed a huge brainbuster on Jay. On the outside, Taven nailed a dive to the floor, crushing the ribs of Jay. Back in the ring, The Briscoes kept on fighting, and Jay took The Climax from Taven but no one was able to make a cover.
The Briscoes Earn Reign #12 – Close This Chapter Of ROH With Massive Win
Jay would dive out onto Taven, and Mark came off the apron with the blockbuster! Back in the ring, Froggy Blow would land on Taven but Maria Kannelis yanked the leg of the referee! Mark would argue with her, and baited a spear from husband to wife. Doomsday Device was set up for Taven to take Mark down with Flight of the Conquerer!
In the ring, Mark managed to kick out, but Backpack Stunner and running kick landed, and that wasn’t enough. He’s been here since day one and will die to take the belts home.The super spike piledriver landed, but Jay was diving in for the save! Jay Briscoe nailed the J-Driller, and a spinning heel kick from Taven dropped him.
Mark took the big knee strike, but blocked the frog splash! J-Driller lands but Taven kicks out! Commentary was yelling over the crowd at this point, and Doomsday Device landed for another false finish! Taven yelled for Jay to kill him, and J-Driller into Froggy Bow might have just about done that to get the win! 12 time and final ROH World Tag Team Champions – THE BRISCOES!
If this is the end of ROH, they showed why they had some of the best tag team wrestling of all time. This match was balls to the walls action, and the crowd was as loud as any pre-pandemic crowd this company ever saw. Match Rating: 4.75/5 (**** 3/4)
They’d all hug it out after a hard fought match, all great friends who have earned the respect. But ROH are THE tag team of ROH, and had to come out on top. Jay grabbed the microphone. It might be the end of an era, but not the end of The Briscoes. Anyone who wants a shot, they’re right here.
Lights went out, and when they came back the FTR theme song had landed and a brawl was out! FTR & Briscoes going at it, a dream match by almost all metrics. Everyone would fight to keep them apart, while the crowd chanted “Let them fight!” They’ve been talking trash for weeks now, and now things got physical.
