Gene Simmons defended David Foster after the latter had made comments about his wife Katharine McPhee’s body in the aftermath of her pregnancy.
Gene Simmons Defends David Foster After The Latter Was Slammed For Commenting On His Wife’s Body – ‘Have To Be Kinder’
David, for his part, had commented on his wife’s photo with the words ‘what baby.’ This was designed to be positive and highlight the fact that Katharine McPhee had managed to obtain a good figure despite going through a pregnancy.
And yet, it had the unfortunate impact of creating a whole social media storm as people interpreted it as an unrealistic view of beauty to obtain. But for Gene, he had nothing but warm words for David, whose intentions he felt were pure.
In an interview with TMZ, Gene said: “I know David well… You know… always say wonderful things about your housemate, your wife, girlfriend everyday. Tell her she is beautiful everyday.”
And as part of his defence for David Foster, Gene felt that the attacks were coming from a certain subset of women rather than men.
As such, there is a feeling that David’s comments may have angered other feminists or those who felt that he had no right to be commenting about a woman’s body.
This is irrespective of the fact that she happens to be his wife. He added: “Women pick on women all the time. You guys have to stop that…Guys don’t care.”
Gene’s comments naturally created a whole debate. He only went on to create more problems for himself, as the comments started to become more hostile towards him.
One person on Twitter wrote: “Gene Simmons, such a champion for women. lmfao The truth behind Foster’s comment is that, at 72, he really can’t remember that he has a baby.”
Despite the adversity that was coming his way, Gene Simmons continued to double down on his beliefs. And he signed off the interview by telling the reporter in no uncertain terms the following: “Women have to be kinder to other women.”
What this story shows is that social media, much like life in general, is becoming increasingly politically correct to the detriment of other people. So there you have it.
