Billy Gunn in once more delving into the trademark waters as it’s been reported that he’s filed to trademark “New Age Outlaws” on January 7.
This has some fans talking and feeding into the rumors that he and Jesse James are going to team up in AEW under their old tag team name as it was field for general merchandise and general pro wrestling use, so this looks more like it’s meant for marketing reasons.
This filing came after it was announced Gunn and James would appear at The Squared Circle Expo on April 15 and 16 in Indianapolis, IN.
Together again
The filing stated (special thanks to wrestlinginc.com for the transcript):
“Hats; Shirts; Socks; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts” and “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”
Since James was released from his backstage duties at NXT by the WWE, fans have been hoping to see them together in AEW, and Gunn joked about how James could join him as a producer in AEW.
But as of now, it appears James is more than happy booking seminars and signings with Gunn as the New Age Outlaws, as their appearance at the above mentioned Squared Circle Expo was made days after James was released.
Oh, you didn’t know?
While they may not ne wrestling together, it’s good to see the duo reunited to meet fans at different conventions.
For many of us, myself included, they were arguably the most exciting and fun tag team during the Monday Night Wars and there’s no forgetting their entrance.
They were so good they were often overshadowed by others in the ring but they always held their own, and we’re excited for the conventions but also what does this mean for behind the scenes with wrestling.
We’re not saying James should go to AEW or anything, but he does a good wrestling mind and he’d be an asset with any company he goes to.
In the end, we could always see them in AEW together. Who knows anymore?
