Right now, Impact Wrestling have done a fantastic job building up their roster. They’ve managed to make the likes of Matt Cardona & W. Morrisey into main event players, and have an incredible champion in Moose. Add in fresh signings like Mike Bailey, and an invasion from some of the best of Ring of Honor, and it’s getting harder and harder to climb the ranks and stand out. This has long been the case of powerhouse Jake Something, which raises some questions about his future as his contract with Impact Wrestling comes to a close.
Jake Something Could Be Done With Impact Wrestling At The End Of February
This news was first reported by Fightful Select, who noted that the contract of Jake Something is up at the end of February. Lately, Something has been stuck on the pre-shows of PPV’s and Before The Impact. Since joining Impact Wrestling, he’s never really been treated as a main event player – despite having the looks, skills, and size to go for the Impact Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. Something has shown outside of Impact just how great he can be in the ring, which makes it shocking how little he gets to show those skills on TV.
Right now, it’s harder than ever to get to the main event in Impact Wrestling. The likes of Josh Alexander have a more clear path, and even Matt Taven or PCO from Ring of Honor are more likely to challenge Moose. This combined with the smaller money contracts offered by Impact Wrestling might see Something look into other options before signing a new deal with Impact Wrestling.
WWE Could Be An Option For Someone Like Something
When it comes to other options, Something has a few options. One is a focus on the indies. Companies like GCW are getting bigger and bigger, and the indies are once again on the upswing. There are countless fresh matches to be found with the talent released by WWE, ROH and rising stars all showing up on shows. Another option comes with AEW, though if Something has issues standing out in Impact Wrestling? AEW is more bloated, and has a much higher level expected. His size wouldn’t even help him stand out alongside the likes of Brody King or Luchasaurus.
WWE is a possible option however. Something is 32 years old, and has the size that WWE is currently looking for. They’re slowing down on signing more experienced wrestlers for NXT 2.0, but with the likes of Rok-C seemingly signed – they haven’t outright stopped. Something isn’t a super long-term investment for WWE, but could certainly prove to be a great accusation.
