That is according to Royal expert Angela Levin. Recent reports had indicated that Prince Charles wanted to invite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the grounds that he was desperate to see his grandchildren.
This was made of paramount importance in light of Prince Harry’s judicial review claim against the Home Office after his representative stated that he would not be visiting the UK unless he was allowed to privately fund his own state security.
And irrespective of whether Prince Harry’s security issues are resolved, Meghan Markle would most likely not have wanted to attend anyway. In an interview with Marie Claire, Angela said: “I don’t believe Meghan ever wants to come back here.
“She would find it very difficult to stay with Prince Charles and the duchess [of Cornwall] because I think she would be quite awkward about it all.” Angela’s comments do hold some weight for the following reasons.
First of all, Meghan is unlikely to be on good terms with Kate Middleton simply by virtue of the fact that Meghan was accused of making Kate cry in the run-up to her wedding, when Meghan claimed that that the opposite had occurred.
Secondly, reports had emerged that Prince Charles was the one who expressed concern about Meghan’s son Archie’s skin colour, which was scandalously talked about in her Oprah Winfrey interview.
As a result, in the absence of a public admission and apology, Meghan Markle is hardly going to be thrilled with the prospect of being in his company. Nevertheless, if Prince Harry does not visit, it does threaten to worsen the relations even more.
An event is set to be held to honour the late Prince Philip in the coming months, and if Prince Harry were to be absent from this, it might indicate that things will not be reconciled in the near future.
