Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could end up missing out on attending a memorial service to honor the late Prince Philip in light of Harry’ security issues. Are the couple using these issues as an excuse to stay out of the UK and not attend Prince Philip’s memorial?
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Could Miss Prince Philip’s Upcoming Memorial
Reports indicate that a memorial service is going to be held for Prince Philip in the next few months at Westminster Abbey. Naturally, there were suggestions that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be present. It would also have provided the Royal family the opportunity to see Archie and Lilibet.
But given that Prince Harry is in a legal battle over whether he will be allowed to fund his own security, there is a great chance that the couple will not attend unless their security concerns are alleviated.
In a statement given on behalf of Harry, a legal representative remarked the following: “In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.
“The UK will always be Prince Harry’s home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in. With the lack of police protection, comes too great a personal risk.”
But the prospects of Prince Harry being allowed to get what he wants are very slim in light of the current policy in place.
Another Royal member, Princess Anne had also faced security concerns in the past, given that she was almost implicated in a kidnapping plot.
As such, if that was not enough to get Anne the requisite security that she wanted, then it is hardly going to make Prince Harry get anything better.
Dai Davies, who happened to be a former Chief Superintendent, had this to say: “Princess Anne, we understand, doesn’t get full time protection now and yet in 1974 she was nearly kidnapped and worse.
“Her protection officer was actually shot.” If Prince Harry does end up missing out on this service, then he does risk creating further division in the Royal family.
After all, people have not forgotten the fact that he did release his Oprah Winfrey interview in line with the deterioration of Prince Philip’s health.
