Wednesday means wrestling! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here gearing up for another episode of AEW Dynamite coming up soon! Hour and a half away from air time as I type this and I better get going on this preview because they’ve been kind enough to give me a whole lot of advertised segments to talk about, matches and promos alike! Eight, by my count! To go from Raw and SmackDown barely giving me two every week to knowing eight things that will definitely be on Dynamite tonight, it’s pretty crazy honestly.
One of the aforementioned promos centers around one of the most key figures in AEW, and really in professional wrestling as a whole…
What is next for Cody Rhodes?
It’s a pretty valid question given all that’s been going on. At Full Gear, he was defeated by Chris Jericho after MJF betrayed him, and per his own stipulation, will never again challenge for the AEW World Championship. Revenge would have to be on his mind, but on social media MJF made a fairly big deal about refusing to ever wrestle him. And before he could even say what was on his mind regarding his former protege, the Butcher and the Blade – with the Bunny, Allie, in tow – cut out from under the ring and assaulted him.
What their reasons are is hard to say, but he will clearly have them to contend with as well. Just where does Cody’s career go from here, knowing that the very peak of it will seemingly be out of his reach forever? And who will team with him against this new threat? He has plenty of allies in theory, but they’re all busy with rivals of their own, even Cody’s own brother Dustin being caught up in a blood feud with Jake Hager.
Tonight we learn what Cody’s next move will be.
