Another episode of AEW Dynamite is in the books folks. Plenty of intriguing results came out of it, but perhaps the biggest news of the night was when MJF came out to make his official response to Cody Rhodes, who had offered him the world in exchange for a match with him. This after MJF previously stated he would never wrestle him. Nontheless, Cody told him to name his price.
When the time came for an answer, it was, as one would expect, another great promo from one Maxwell Jacob Friedman. He came out to chide his former mentor and agree that there is, in fact, a price. He accepted the match with Cody, but only per his own stipulations! But quite frustratingly, he was not prepared to tell us what those stipulations were, claiming that the crowd in Texas was not the place for it.
Instead, he said that he will announce his terms for that match in Jacksonville! This is to say he will be doing so on the New Year’s Day show, which they’ve labelled as their Homecoming!
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this segment below:
MJF dares them to fire him! But he won’t, because the one thing he wants most in this world is to get his hands on him, plus he’d be letting down these people he claims to care about, because what they want to see is the two of them face off! Asks the crowd if they want to see it, gets them into a frenzy, says “YOU’RE ON! …Buuut…” big heat. Says he has a few stipulations but he won’t tell him about them in Honkyville, Texas. Yet more heat. Chant of “Asshole”. Says he’ll give him the stipulations in Jacksonville. MJF has the cameraman zoom in and says he knows he’s back there foaming at the mouth waiting for someone to release him, but he’s in control now and not him, because he’s better than you and you know it.
One can only wonder what MJF wants. Is he going to force Cody to put his career on the line? Perhaps demand that, should he lose, he give up his EVP status and let MJF take over AEW?
