It’s Wednesday and that means All Elite Wrestling comes to TNT once again! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the quick hits from tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite! Expect segment-by-segment recaps and results from the show as they conclude! Watch this space!
Segment 1: Jon Moxley opened the show to go up against Proud-N-Powerful’s Ortiz, who represented Le Champion Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle. Moxley got the victory, and then overcame an attack from Ortiz’s partner Santana. Mox then made sure Jericho watched as he took the keys to the Ford GT and stabbed Santana in the eye with them!
Segment 2: Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky of SCU come out to face off with Chuck Taylor and Trent Barreta of the Best Friends! The former tag team champions got the win, but were attacked by the Dark Order afterwards. Christopher Daniels came out to run them off as they refused to attack him.
Segment 3: Britt Baker took on Yuka Sakazaki. In a major upset, the Joshi pulled out the win, but afterwards Baker assaulted her viciously, knocking out a couple of teeth before putting her in Lockjaw!
AEW Dynamite rages on…
Segment 4: In a crazy eight-man tag team match, Hangman Page, Kenny Omega & the Young Bucks took on the Butcher, The Blade and the Lucha Bros! In something of a surprise to me, the heels got the win after Page refused to tag in the Bucks in spite of his wounded knee.
Segment 5: PAC held Riho hostage to force Kenny to accept a match with him at long last. He then revealed Nyla Rose waiting in the wings to jump Riho and powerbomb her onto a table! Then, in a long-awaited grudge match, Kip Sabian with Penelope Ford backing him up took on Joey Janela in a one-on-one match. After an errant shot to Ford, Sabian rolled up Janela.
Segment 6: There’s one thing left now… Cody is about to receive ten lashes from a leather belt by MJF himself, Maxwell Jacob Friedman. It’s been promoted to be very, very brutal, a gruesome occasion to be sure. And it sure was, Cody’s back was lined with deep red welts everywhere by the time it was done. And it took the willing of the crowd and all of Cody’s closest allies, but he made it through all ten lashes. MJF was furious that he survived, but then surprised Cody with a cheap low blow and ran for the hills!
