Another episode of AEW Dynamite is coming to us tonight. My name is Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and here is a quick preview of everything we can expect to see tonight!
Darby Allin & Cody vs. Sammy Guevara & Shawn Spears
This match is a preview of the upcoming TNT Championship tournament. Cody will be facing Shawn Spears in the first round, and Darby Allin will go up against Sammy Guevara, two rematches from prior pay-per-views. Cody and Darby have teamed together successfully before, though only the once. Still, they’re clear favorites… heels winning here would be interesting but the general AEW logic tells me that Cody & Darby are winning.
Kenny Omega vs. Trent
Last week, Omega successfully defended his AAA Mega Championship against Sammy Guevara in probably the best mainstream empty arena match we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks. He continues to face off against fresh competition here tonight. Kenny and Trent once had a memorable battle in New Japan, at the very start of what was meant to be a major switch to a singles career for Trent at the time. That match did a lot to legitimize Trent as a solo competitor in people’s eyes back then so let’s see if they can do the same for AEW’s audience here tonight. Omega over.
The second half of the TNT Championship Tournament bracket will be unvieled!
The prior half, recounted above, was revealed last night on Dark. Notable names still yet to be announced include the likes of Colt Cabana, Brodie Lee, Matt Hardy, PAC, either of the Lucha Bros, Orange Cassidy, any member of SCU, Kip Sabian, Dustin Rhodes, Lance Archer and plenty of other potential candidates. It’s pretty tough to actually say who will make this tournament with so few spots.
Speaking of those last couple of names…
Lance Archer makes his in-ring debut tonight!
Archer will no doubt get the privilege of a brutal squash match here this evening. He’s got the chance to send quite a message to Cody, who he has his sights set on. Might we possibly see an Archer/Cody final in this TNT title tournament? If he’s actually in it, I’d probably bet on that one.
The Natural Nightmares, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall to make their Dynamite debut!
The team has seen some success on AEW Dark so tonight they get to show their stuff on prime time.
