AEW Dynamite rolls on. Britt Baker has a vignette going over the rules of being a role model. Rule #1 is to always fight fair, a crucual part of being a role model that is rarely adhered to. She chastises Hikaru Shida for supposedly cheating in their match last week and breaking her nose, giving her a deviated septum in her own words. Britt’s got some tape on her nose as she talks about this. Says that Britt had to persevere even though her usual adoring fans were not there to support her, she did it all on her own. Looks like this is the start of a series, should be fun.
Ariel Helwani and Taz talk up Hager/Moxley later on tonight and give their takes. Helwani believes Hager has got this whilst Taz picks Mox. We also get a neat segment of Taz breaking down Hager’s Arm Triangle, we see him apply it in both AEW and Bellator. This includes a clip of Hager choking out Mox. Taz talks up how effective it is at choking somebody out.
Next, out comes Cassandra Golden for a match against Britt. On her way out, Baker gets in the face of Shida in the crowd.
Britt Baker vs. Cassandra Golden
Golden wants a tie up but Britt just punches her in the face. Big thrust kick nails her. Baker takes Golden up onto the middle rope and poses before her with a big smile. Enters the ring and chokes her against the middle rope. Sliding forearm to the face, the same one that broke the teeth of Yuka Sakazaki and that gets the win!
Winner: Britt Baker
That was a pure squash, I don’t think Golden got even a single bit of offense even when Britt was rubbing in her success. Britt could use the easy win as well so it works. And I appreciate establishing other means for her to win since you don’t necessarily want a lot of babyfaces tapping out, so now she has something other than the Lockjaw to work.
We get more people talking up the Moxley/Hager match, the likes of Ron Funches and Mike Goldberg giving their takes. As seems to be the theme of the night, the MMA people are going with the MMA guy in Jake Hager and everyone else is on Mox’s side.
