AEW Dynamite rolls on and we have but the main event left tonight. In a preview of the TNT Championship Tournament, Darby Allin and Cody team up to face their first round opponents, Sammy Guevara and Shawn Spears.
Cody & Darby Allin vs. Shawn Spears & Sammy Guevara
Darby and Sammy start us off. Sammy whips behind him, backs off to the heel corner. He and Spears demand Darby get back, and then Shawn tags in. He demands Cody! Cody tags in, lock-up. Cody takes him into the corner, some reverses. Spears snatches a side headlock. Shoots him off for a shoulder block but Cody responds with a pump kick to the face! Tag to Darby, Cody holds Spears in place for a double axe handle off the top! Allin with a top wristlock. Spears with a shot to the face, tag to Guevara who is vlogging during his match. Bails from the ring and talks trash, again is trying to mack on Brandi Rhodes.
She grabs his phone and makes off with it, Sammy is dismayed and Darby dashes into him with a big body block sending the barrier sliding! Spears attacks Allin, throws him into the ring, pursues, Darby with a big dropkick to take advantage, Cody tags in, grabs the legs, Hardcore Holly-style Legal Low Blow, Darby with a shot to the face, Cody with the Uppercut from the mat. They want a stereo dive but both Sammy and Spears avoid it, only for them to do the criss-cross spot as they each take them out with dives on opposite sides of the ring! Commercial break.
We come back to see Darby getting driven into the heel corner. Isolation commences, Darby trying to fight his way out of an arm wringer. Takes it to both men, escapes over him, O’Connor Roll but Cody is accidentally distracting the referee, Sammy with a big high knee to the head of Darby! He’s sent to the outside, Guevara stomps Allin into the floor, throws Darby hard into the barricade! Drags him over to the ring and slams his face onto the apron! Snap suplex into the ring for a 2 count. Chinlock. Darby tries to fight up but Spears tags in to keep taking it to him. Sammy makes Spears a bet, fifty bucks if he can hold him.
Spears hoists Darby up for a stalling suplex! They count to ten, Spears drives him down for a nearfall, calls for money. Sammy makes a bet that he can hold him for fifteen. Tags in and lifts him, the crowd counts to 15, he looks like he’s struggling a bit but he makes it and covers for a nearfall. Spears calls to amp it up to 20 seconds, goes for the suplex but Darby counters with an inside cradle for a nearfall! Spears attacks him, goes for another suplex but this time Darby springs off the top rope and turns it into a suplex of his own!
Sammy tags in, rushes in to try and stop him with a running Shooting Star but Darby responds with a back body drop, tag to Cody! Runs wild, Snap Powerslam to Sammy for a nearfall! Springboard Cutter! Cody pulls off his weight belt and tosses it to Brandi in the crowd! Going for the Sharpshooter and cinches it in! Spears rushes in, Cody stops him and gets him into the Figure Four! Guevara runs in for the running Shooting Star Press to break it up! Sammy wants to nick the Springboard Cutter but Cody catches him and turns it into Cross-Rhodes! But Spears drags Cody out of the ring, throws him into the crowd who quickly begin to stomp him, Britt taking a shoe to him! Commercial break.
We come back to see Guevara choking Cody onto the middle rope. Takes Cody into the heel corner, Spears tags in, body blow. Takes Cody into a neutral corner and starts the ten punches, Cody escapes and after four and sends him into the top turnbuckle. Boo/Yay spot with punches and chops, Cody wins out and wants to make the tag but Spears keeps a hold of his arm and throws him to the heel corner, Cody takes Guevara off the apron, Moonsault from the top to Spears but he’s favoring that injured foot now! Tag to Darby, up top, missile dropkick to both men! Charging body blocks, Spears hits Sammy by mistake as he tries to stop him, Springboard Body Block, ducks a clothesline and Spears sends Guevara to the floor, low bridges Spears to the floor on the other side, Darby with a wicked fast suicide dive to Guevara!
Tries another to Spears but he catches him out of the air, tosses him right into the barricade! Spears lays Darby atop the barricade! Sammy with a missile dropkick off the apron sends Darby into the crowd area! Cody with a suicide dive to the heels, throws Spears into the ring, pursues, Spears gets Cody with the Running DVD which he calls the C-4! That’s his usual finish but he can’t seem to cover. Guevara drags Cody out of the ring and they start wailing on him. Darby is climbing the pillar! COFFIN DROP FROM THE CEILING! He nails them both! Sends Spears into the ring, up top, but Sammy stops him! Throws Darby from the top to the barricade! Cody stops Sammy, Inverted Superplex! But Spears surprises Cody with a Frog Splash! Guevara takes a chair into the ring and Spears wants to nail Cody again but Darby pulls the chair away, Sammy takes the chair from Darby and Spears rolls Allin up for the surprise win!
Winners: Shawn Spears & Sammy Guevara
Cody and Darby are stunned as Spears is elated making his way out. Cody is trying to cheer Darby up but he doesn’t want to be touched, he punches Cody right in the mouth and takes him down! Darby is furious as he makes his leave.
