Another episode of AEW Dynamite is on again here this evening, and it’s the go-home show to AEW Double Or Nothing! Nine competitors will be squaring off this Saturday in a very unique match, a Casino Ladder Match where the winner gets a shot at the AEW World Championship! And two of the nine competitors in this bout will square off one-on-one this evening when Orange Cassidy goes up against Rey Fenix! You can expect the same kind of live coverage tonight as always, including previews of everything announced in advance! And as usual with Dynamite that accounts for a lot, so let’s get started!
Orange Cassidy vs. Rey Fenix
Man, what a weird match! I mean granted Orange Cassidy against anybody is likely to give me that vibe, but this in particular is such a funny thing. In one corner, we have perhaps the single fastest wrestler on the planet, one of the greatest high fliers of all time in Rey Fenix. And in the other, an actual glacier, who generally attacks in slo-motion in Orange Cassidy. A pure character (aside from certain flashes where he’ll show off what a good wrestler he really can be) versus a guy that many consider up there in the conversation for best in-ring performer of his generation.
It’s a clash to say the least and one I can’t help but be intrigued by. It’s far from a random one though. Cassidy and the Best Friends were already kicking up a feud with the Death Triangle just before all this mess started. Now, Fenix is the only member of the group who can actually make the trip, with PAC stuck in England and Pentagon Jr. stuck in Mexico. Fenix happened to end up stuck in the US which atleast allows him to show up at AEW events.
He kicked off this feud once again, quite literally with a dynamic entry of a dive kick, coming into the frame with a beautiful boot to Cassidy’s head which seemed to lay him out permanently in the moment. The two men are both part of the Casino Ladder match this Saturday and honestly, that’s gonna be one of the hardest matches to predict I’ve ever written about. But if there is a favorite, it might be Fenix. I certainly think he should be positioned as such anyway, and that means a win here tonight. Rey Fenix over.
