AEW Dark continues and we have the fourth appearance now of Alan Angels. They’re now officially telling the story that Angels can hang with the greats but hasn’t quite managed to get a win yet, so we basically have to be building to something. He’s got another test tonight as he goes up against Sammy Guevara. On his way out Sammy makes sure that Dasha sees his abs. Incidentally Guevara’s not sporting the neckbrace anymore which they also point out on commentary.
Sammy Guevara vs. Alan Angels
Guevara is stunned that Angels even wants to stand in the ring with him. Alan calls him a punk and Sammy gives him a facewash. Lock-up, Guevara with a side headlock. Wrenching it in. Switch to a hammerlock and then a Waistlock Takedown, spins across his back for a cocky pose and then back to the waistlock as he takes him to his feet. Angels reverses into a wristlock, Sammy back flips to reverse but Angels rolls through, single leg takedown. Hits the ropes, Guevara springs up, couple of leap frogs into a corkscrew dropkick! And then he spins to the mat with his little pose yet again.
Angels pops to his feet with a wicked knife edge chop, Sammy gets him with a knee to the gut but then groans “Jesus” at how painful that must’ve been. Belts him with a mean chop of his own, then hits a very crisp snap suplex for a 2 count! Hoists him up, Angels escapes out the back, spin kick to the gut, rolls over him and hooks the arm as he does, flips him into a Crossface! Guevara rolls him up for 2, Angels with a standing dropkick leaves him leaning against the ropes. Angels spins to the mat to do the pose but can’t really do it as easily, just shrugs. Guevara isn’t happy, wants an elbow drop but Angels avoids it, hits the ropes and leaps at him – Guevara with an awesomely high rising knee to the face! Boy he got up there.
Sammy kicking him across the ring in a very Jericho-esque manner now. Chokes him against the ropes, charging kick to the ribs! Guevara demands commentary tell the world how great he is. Angels fights his way up, Sammy with a forearm to the face though. Hoists him onto his shoulders, and now the deep squats, just showing off. Angels reverses with a crucifix for a 2 count – Guevara waylays him with a big lariato! Swaggering around the ring. Leaping stomp to the hand! Already a taped up hand too. Delayed Vertical Suplex, Sammy just carrying him around and walking with him, brings him down for a loud landing!
Sammy going up top now. But then he just leaps to his feet and goes for the mocking slap – but Angels catches his wrist! Chop exchange ensues, Angels with a kick to the leg, forearms, Guevara ducks a roundhouse and nails a spinning back fist! But Angels with a hook kick just before he goes down, both men fall to the mat! Angels with a series of charging elbows, combination of strikes ends with an enziguri, flips to his feet and hits the ropes, Guevara ducks a clothesline, takes him to the apron but Angels with a roundhouse kick, springs into the ring for a dropkick! Takes him onto his shoulders, Guevara elbows his way free, big flying knee to the side of the head! Takes him up, GTH nailed for the victory!
Winner: Sammy Guevara
The GTH is the move Guevara does that’s essentially the GTS but done by flipping the opponent onto his knee instead of a simple drop, and it stands for “Go To Hospital”.
