One of the best feuds in wrestling today is that of FTR (formerly The Revival) and The Young Bucks. Easily two of the best tag teams of the modern era, one represents an old-school style of tag team wrestling, while the other represents the new-school style. They both have their fans and their detractors, and FTR would catch up with Jim Cornette, perhaps the biggest detractors of The Young Bucks. During their interview with them, like expected this topic would come up and we would get their thoughts on men who they will likely meet in the ring in the coming weeks.
With a match coming down the line being almost certain, this podcast was a perfect way to begin to officially start this storyline. It has been brewing for years on Twitter and the Being The Elite YouTube series. Now we finally get the thoughts from Dax Harwood himself (formerly Scott Dawson).
FTR Give Their Thoughts On The Young Bucks
“So with those guys, I think Cash feels the same way, but with those I think maybe there was some kind of professional jealousy only because for so long, all the Internet fans and Dave Meltzer, they always gave these guys rave reviews. ‘They’re the greatest tag team in the world! There’s nobody that comes close to them! They’re the best!’
And then all of a sudden here comes two 5’10” North Carolina guys, who by the way can fight in real life and we’ve gotten in multiple fights in real life and gotten in multiple trouble with cops because of fighting, but needless to say, here comes two 5’10” North Carolina guys and the wrestling world is kind of like, ‘Wait a second, that’s how tag team wrestling is supposed to be done.
We have no professional qualms with them or jealousy towards them but it did bother us that in 2016 that they never came to us and asked, ‘Hey is this okay if we do this?’ They just out of the blue started saying it [FTR]. Well I think that’s because when you say it on an Internet show without the consent of the person there is no fear of the retaliation. You don’t have to worry about getting punched in the mouth by the person you’re saying it about.”
This all comes off as what has been called a ‘worked shoot’. It builds the story almost too perfectly, and for this to come from a podcast with Jim Cornette of all people is perfect. He’s perhaps their most vocal detractor, and here he is helping to build what could be one of their biggest money feuds of the year.
