Brian Pillman Jr. Wants To Challenge For The TNT Championship

While he’s yet to make his name known on AEW Dynamite, fans of AEW Dark know exactly how good Brian Pillman Jr. is. The second generation wrestler is of course, the son of Brian Pillman, and is the spitting image of his father in looks and skills. He’s currently contracted to Major League Wrestling, but is looking for his way out of that contract to work with AEW full time.

One goal that he has in mind for AEW is the TNT Championship, currently held by Cody Rhodes. Pillman Jr. thinks that he has Rhodes’ number, and just needs the chance to get into the ring with him.

Brian Pillman Jr. Is Confident He’d Beat Cody If Given The Chance

While appearing on the Wrestling Inc. daily podcast, he’d be asked about if he would want to challenge for the TNT Championship. It has become a very prestigious championship over it’s short existence, due to the incredible work ethic of current champion Cody Rhodes, so naturally Pillman Jr. wants it.

“I’d say it would be pretty wise to position myself for a title shot like that. That’s something I should be aiming for. But I shouldn’t be aiming just to have the match, I should be aiming to win the title,” started Pillman. “I’ve been drawn to Cody for a very long time ever since I met him in Calgary. I’ve been studying his work and watching his stuff and I think if he gets in the ring with me, he’ll realize real quickly that I’ve got his number.

If you give me that shot, if Cody thinks it will be some fun little title match to get him over and, ‘Aw yeah, Pillman and Cody’ and we shake hands afterwards, that’s not gonna be the case. If I get that shot, I’m fully expecting to win the belt. I’m on fire right now; I’m on the best of my game. They better hope they don’t put me in the ring with Cody and the TNT Title on the line unless they’re fully expecting him to drop that title.”

You can’t fault him for being incredibly confident, as he has the skills to back that confidence up in the ring. He just lacks the experience of a champion, something that would likely lead to Rhodes winning yet again.

Do you think that Brian Pillman Jr. could beat Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship? Will he even get the chance to do so? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
