AEW has taken a very faction based approach ever since the start of Dynamite. You have The Elite, The Inner Circle, The Dark Order, The Nightmare Family, Best Friends, Team Taz, and whatever Eddie Kingstons group feels like calling themselves. It’s a great approach, making for easy storyline progression reminiscent of how NJPW does business. One of these factions just grew, that being The Nightmare Family.
Cody Announced The Nightmare Family Has Added Lee Johnson
Over the past few months, a ton of indy talent were given a chance to make an impact in AEW through shows like AEW Dark. One of these men was Lee Johnson, who really stood out from the pack during a show stealer of a match with Ben Carter. While Ben Carter might be on his way to WWE, Lee Johnson has stayed put and is now joining up with The Nightmare Family, and he’s not the only one.
Gunn Club Also Joins Nightmare Family
In a two for one special, Cody also acquired Gunn Club, the team with Billy & Austin Gunn. Billy is a time tested veteran, and the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree with his son Austin. At 56, Billy might not have that many years left in the ring, but Austin is just getting started, and will likely have his dad in his corner throughout his career. As a tag team, they’ve never been beaten in a two on two environment, with their sole loss being in an eight man tag team match against Dark Order.
Building Up Troops To Fight Dark Order
After beating Mr. Brodie Lee in a brutal Dog Collar match, Cody Rhodes was far from done with The Dark Order. This war was just getting started, and Cody realizes that himself, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall won’t be enough. Even calling on extras like Matt Cardona & Scorpio Sky might not even the odds enough, but adding some fresh talent like Austin & Lee, as well as a veteran like Billy might help in the end.
