SCU are challenging themselves in 2021. If they lose another match? They break up forever. No more Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian. But that won’t be an issue if they keep winning. They just can’t slow down, and need to keep winning. That includes tonight, when they join AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks to take on The Acclaimed and TH2 in Eight Man Tag Team action.

    The Acclaimed Are Stars

Daniels started with Bowens, but took a shot at Caster as the bell rang, triggering a big brawl. Kazarian came in with Bowens, Jack Evans came in only to be taken out by an assisted dropkick from Young Bucks, before Nick took out both members of TH2 with a headscissors-armdrag combo. A chaotic start to this match, but an expected one. Ending it, Nick Jackson dove onto the mass of bodies at ringside, before Daniels tried for the Arabian Moonsault but Bowens caught him.

The Acclaimed would isolate Daniels in the ring, and order finally restored to this match. Angelico was tagged in, before getting Evans in for a double stomp assisted backdrop. Bowens came back in, and started to beat down Daniels more. Evans got a middle rope Phoenix Splash, and Angelico would apply a Crucifix lock than Excalibur & Chris Jericho argued the name of on commentary.

Daniels showed some fight and out-wrestled the rookie Bowens, nailing a Blue Thunder Bomb and made the tag to Kazarian. Evans came in and was cut in half with a knife edge chop and hit with a bridging German Suplex. A reverse suplex was countered, and Evans hit the standing Sky Twister Press for a near fall. Bowens came in, and Kazarian was looking to be in trouble, but managed to tag in Matt Jackson.

Christopher Daniels Shows SCU Is Going To Have A Great 2021

Showing his skills, a double Northern Lights Suplex dropped Evans & Bowens, before he ran wild all over Daily’s Place. Back in the ring, he hit a scoop slam and went for a dive to the outside instead of following up on Bowens, only to hit Risky Business with Nick. A powerbomb into the corner had kicks from Daniels & Matt, and a DDT from Kazarian really planted Bowens, who still managed to kick out.

Caster stopped BTE Trigger, before Kazarian stopped him and hit the move with Nick. Angelico & Evans returned to the ring and saved this one. A combination Neck & Back Breaker was followed with a 630 Senton attempt, but that met knees. Superkicks were planned on Evans, but Angelico caught the boots with his face instead. The Acclaimed took kicks next, Evans after, but Meltzer Driver was stopped at ringside. Evans tried for the pin, but Matt kicked out.

Daniels tagged in, and set up Meltzer Driver, but Nick had to dive to the outside. Instead, Daniels helped hit a true Best Meltzer Ever for the win! SCU re-itterated that their next loss is their last, and told The Young Bucks to watch out for them in the future.

These odd-bedfellow multi-man tag team matches can be hit or miss with AEW, but both teams showed some serious chemistry. Just a spotfest from start to finish, but that’s the style of these teams. It sets up SCU vs. Young Bucks down the line, which could be a major match. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
