Regardless of how it looks on the outside, internally Team Taz will tell you things are fine. They’ve dropped three major matches in a row to Hangman Page, Brian Cage has gone rogue, and things are being held together by a thread… but things are fine. Tonight, Taz claims to have an announcement that could change the landscape of the group.
Taz Has A Solution To Fix Their Issues
Brian Cage and Ricky Starks are both not here, and their feud has been toxic for Team Taz. Hobbs & Hook are just as sick of it as Taz is. However, on July 14th in Austin, Texas, this ends. Brian Cage will defend the FTW Championship against a now medically cleared Ricky Starks.
This is Taz’s last hope of getting his group back on track. Either he can get the FTW Championship off Brian Cage, or a fight will get the issue between Starks and Cage under control. We don’t know what will happen, and it might be more than Starks to beat someone like Cage. Could Taz have something else up his sleeve?
Britt Baker Gets The Lockjaw On Guerrero
When Vickie Guerrero & Nyla Rose challenged the AEW World Women’s Champion Britt Baker & Rebel to a match, they laughed her off. Even with Rose being a former champion and Rebel not being much in the ring, it’s hard to see Vickie Guerrero getting into the ring with much effect. However, with Vickie she tends to have something up her sleeve, which could be the case tonight.
Vickie would get slapped in the face to start this match and tagged in Rose, who had Rebel jump onto her back. Rebel would be crushed by The Native Beast, who would offer Rebel for a tag, and Baker refused for the moment. A series of scoop slams would drop Rebel, and Vickie tagged in, gave a classic shimmy, and started to very slowly climb the ropes as Rose grabbed a table.
Rebel yanked Vickie down, but Vickie got a flash pinfall for a two count before tagging in Rose. Rose would stomp on and stretch the abdominal section of Rebel, before applying the Canadian Backbreaker. Rebel would survive and tag in Baker finally, who hit a Slingblade, countered a Beast Bomb attempt and nailed a superkick.
Baker went to grab the glove from Rebel for the lockjaw, and walked into a Chokeslam before taking the draping knee drop. Rebel made the save, and was taken out, before Vickie made the tag. Baker took her down and applied the Lockjaw for the win.
This was never gonna be an in-ring clinic, but it was a simple match to push the feud of Baker & Rose along. Guerrero was just there to take the fall, which was fine. Match Rating: 1/5 (*)
After the match, Nyla Rose hit a powerbomb on Baker before going to the table outside. Baker would take a powerbomb off the ramp through the table, and it’s looking like Rose has the edge in this feud. Will Rose win the AEW World Women’s Championship for a second time?
