Chris Jericho just has two matches to go before he gets his hands on MJF. He’s beaten Shawn Spears in a one sided chairs match, and survived a deathmatch against Nick Gage. However tonight, he has to come face to face with one of his greatest rivals in Juventud Guerrera. Back in WCW, they clashed often over the Cruiserweight Championship, with Jericho winning 8 of their 11 televised one on one matches. Tonight however, Jericho must win by coming off the top rope, as per the rules of MJF.
The Juice Is Loose Once Again
Juvi would start off fast with some chops in the corner, showing his insane speed hasn’t gone anywhere. He’d come off the top rope with a hurricanrana, before hitting a flying headscissor and sending Jericho over the top rope. Juvi would dive to the outside onto Jericho, before sending him into the ring to hit a missile dropkick.
This match has been 100% Juvi from the opening bell, but Jericho countered a suplex and sent Juvi to the apron before shoulder blocking him to the outside. Jericho would nail some heavy handed chops before sending him into the timekeepers table. He’d go up top after sending Juvi into the ring, and hit a flying crossbody for a two count.
Juvi would light up Jericho with some rapid strikes, before dropping Jericho with a superkick. Jericho attempted a sunset flip, but Juvi rolled through the move and hit a kick to the face. Juvi would apply a submission to attack the injured arm of Jericho, before letting him go to send him into the corner.
Chris Jericho Gets Creative, Debuts New Super Finisher
Jericho would nail some shoulder tackles to stay in the fight before going for a double axe handle off the top which got a two count. A slick backbreaker might have done it, but the pin wasn’t counted. Jericho would pull at the mask of Juvi, before being sent up top for a top rope hurricanrana. Juvi was countered off the top rope, and Jericho held on into the Walls Of Jericho.
This could win as it started up top, but Juvi got the bottom rope. Juvi hit a rolling cutter and a low superkick for a two count, before countering a powerbomb into a DDT and nailing the Juvi Driver for a near fall. MJF was getting furious on commentary, as Jericho nailed the Judas Effect. He couldn’t get a pinfall, but Juvi was out and Jericho went up top. A flying Judas Effect dropped Juvi for the win.
This was a solid TV match, and showed the chemistry of these old rivals. There was some inventive spots, especially the top rope Judas Effect finish. Not their best match, but for these two in 2021? This was good fun. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
After the match, Wardlow attacked both Jericho & Juvi, before MJF named the fourth labour. He needs to beat Wardlow with MJF as the special guest referee. Can Jericho hope to win this match? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
