My oh my, was that ever a long night... but it was sure worth it! Ladies and gentlemen, Wrestle Kingdom 14 is, technically still upon us as we speak as we are now between halves of this pro wrestling extravaganza! Night 1 finished a few hours ago as I type this and frankly I’ve only just now begun to decompress from all that I’ve witnessed. As I said before any of this even started, it’s going to go down as a truly unforgettable weekend in professional wrestling’s storied history.
The second of the night’s two faction warfare based eight-man tag team matches saw Chaos take on Bullet Club, a classic New Japan battle if ever there was one. This is on the heels of Hirooki Goto’s upcoming challenge for KENTA’s NEVER Openweight Championship.
Chaos (Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii, Yoshi-Hashi & Toru Yano) def. Bullet Club (Kenta, Bad Luck Fale, Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi)
As per standard logic, Goto picked up the win here, giving himself just that smidgen more credibility going into his title shot. Granted he pinned Yujiro Takahashi, roughly the most meaningless victory you can get in New Japan without just beating up a young lion, but all the same…
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this match below:
Ishii tags in! Throws Yujiro, knocks Chase off the apron, hooks Fale for a suplex… crowd reeeaaaaally wants it but he’s just too heavy and he slams Ishii! Yano clubbers Fale from behind! He slowly turns… Yano runs, tries to low bridge him but Fale just stomps him out of the ring! Yujiro tags in, but Yoshi-Hashi gets him with a suplex, simultaneous tags to Kenta and Goto! They immediately meet in the middle with clotheslines and stagger one another! But Goto recovers first, big shots in, tries for his Snap Neckbreaker but Kenta counters with a DDT, tag to Yujiro who nails an Inverted DDT. Everyone ganging up on Goto now, leading to a Yujiro Fisherman’s Suplex for a nearfall. Ishii in the ring with Fale, nails a headbutt that staggers! Hooks… CROWD GOES WILD FOR THE BRAINBUSTER!!! Yujiro and Kenta try and ouble team Goto but he ducks a double clothesline, clotheslines Yujiro, kick to the face of Kenta, gets the GTR for the win!
Winners: Chaos
