However, we’re not here to talk about his career, but rather remember the man behind the persona, as Jerome Young has passed away at 58 years old.
New Jack Died Of A Heart Attack At 58 Years Old
This news was first reported by PWInsider after getting a message from Youngs wife Jennifer. New Jack passed away at 58 years old following a heart attack earlier this afternoon in his North Carolina home. It’s the type of death that no one saw coming, as it seemed unlikely anything could take him down. However, at the end of the day, wrestling is all characters, and the people behind them are mortal.
No matter how you perceive New Jack as a character, or how much of this character was just Jerome Young turning his personality up to 11? You can’t deny that he loved the professional wrestling industry. He made sure everything felt real, and always felt at home in or around the squared circle.
It was impossible to tell where the character started or ended, something that is rare in an industry like professional wrestling. Love him or hate him, it’s hard to deny that ECW highlight reels wouldn’t have been the same without New Jack, and perhaps nobody captured the rebel nature of the promotion quite like him.
