We have already seen the effects of the #SpeakingOut movement make waves within WWE. Jack Gallagher, Ligero & Travis Banks have all been released from the company, after being implicated of sexual abuse, rape and more. Another name that came up during all this is NXT UK star Joe Coffey, who’s case is now being looked into. While this investigation happens, Coffey has been suspended from WWE. Suspension does little in this case, as NXT UK is on standby regardless, and Coffey hasn’t been seen since the last taped episode of NXT UK, several months ago now.
Joe Coffey Has Been Accussed Of Sexual Unwanted Sexual Advances By Several Women
While not as harsh as Jack Gallaghers attempted rape, or Travis Banks being in an abusive relationship with a minor who trained at his wrestling school, Coffey’s case is still bad. He has been accused by atleast two women for making unwanted and persistent sexual advances towards them. The latest case, coming from an anonymous woman and shared by retired professional wrestler Sierra Loxton tells the following tale.
After a show in Liverpool, this girl would be asked to come hang out with some talent. One of the men there was Joe Coffey, who would sit next to her while they all chatted. He would place his hand on her leg, and slowly move it up into her pants. She would pull his hand away, and he stopped. He left the room about ten minutes later, and would send her a text asking her to come to his room. She would obviously ignore this, and the dick picture he sent shortly after. Even with her never replying, he wouldn’t get the message and kept harrassing her.
This type of behaviour is obviously not acceptable, but WWE might choose to send Coffey to some sensitivity training instead of outright firing him, like Gallagher and the others.
WWE Wants Him To Be A Star Of NXT UK
With two NXT UK Takeover main events under his belt, and being the defacto leader of Gallus, it’s clear that WWE holds Joe Coffey in high regard. An accomplished wrestler from the UK indie scene, he dominated companies like ICW in Scotland, even defeating Kurt Angle at their biggest show ever. He’s a solid heavyweight worker, and their persistence is clear. His match with WALTER from the most recent NXT UK Takeover didn’t get great reviews, which caused fans to sour on him. However, his current final apperence for the brand showed him as strong as ever, meaning that if he stays with the company, expect him to remain high on NXT UK cards.
Do you see WWE releasing Joe Coffey in the coming days, or will they simply try to correct his behaviour going forward? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
