We’re in the midst of an interesting time within the history of AEW. A lot of their early contracts are coming to an end. Having only ever released a handful of problematic talent from their contracts – many fans have felt their roster has become bloated. Many names don’t find TV time, and are only found on AEW Dark – and this includes fan favourite Peter Avalon.
Pretty Peter Avalon To Go To A Per-Appearance Deal In AEW?
When it comes to enhancement talents in AEW, Peter Avalon is one of their best. From his days as The Librarian, to teaming with Brandon Cutler and then feuding with him, to leading the undercard stable The Wingmen as “Pretty Peter Avalon” – he always provided a unique energy to AEW.
However, keeping someone who is just around to lose matches on contract is not a great way to spend money. Since starting up, AEW has started to offer ‘per-appearance’ deals, which would make a lot more sense for someone with the skills of Avalon. He’s a talented wrestler, but has rarely claimed wins in AEW.
Other Names On Their Way To New Types Of Deals
Other names like Marko Stunt & Joey Janela would fall into similar roles as Avalon, and potentially will end up in a similar boat to Avalon. Joey Janela was a higher level enhancement talent in AEW, taking the fight to the likes of Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and Jon Moxley – while Avalon mainly faced lower card wrestlers.
Marko Stunt took a different role, being the third member of Jurassic Express – and often used to make giants look even bigger, like when he faced Lance Archer. Stunt hasn’t been seen on AEW TV in months, and Janela rarely gets off AEW Dark. Both will likely be offered ‘per-appearance’ deals, which would work nicely as both frequently wrestle on the indies.
Even with some early talents leaving, and Lio Rush also saying goodbye to AEW – their roster is still far too big for the three hours of TV they show every week. Who else do you see joining the likes of Avalon & Janela? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
