A Hulk Hogan retirement match is still percolating and the Snoop-saved Shane McMahon is said to be on the list as his final opponent at a WrestleMania. Fortunately, there’s been no confirmation from WWE on this as that’s basically giving the story away without the surprise of being on Hogan’s last ride.
Rob Van Dam Claims Hulk Hogan Regretted Not Wrestling Him in TNA—The Hulkster Believes They Could’ve ‘Made So Much Money’
On his 1 of a Kind podcast, Rob Van Damn mentioned a conversation he had with The Hulkster a few months ago. He claimed that while joking with his fellow WWE Hall of Famer about why they were never booked against each other, Hulk Hogan expressed regret that their match never took place.
Both wrestlers have faced the best of their generations and others but rarely crossed paths in storylines. When both were first in the same company, RVD wasn’t that high up the card. Later on they were on separate brands.
TNA was the next time they were in the same company. At that time in 2010, Hogan actually brought RVD into TNA as the company had its eyes on running Impact live on Monday nights—against WWE RAW. I mean, RVD is “Mr. Monday Night,” you might as well run him as the main event and World Champion.
Hogan was more of an authority figure alongside Eric Bischoff but he could’ve mixed it up with Van Dam at some point. He would wrestle his final match in 2012 winning in a TNA six-man tag team, so it could’ve been at least a two-match feud or something in that window of time.
As RVD recalled per Sportskeeda:
“I was like, ‘What happened? You weren’t really in charge there? What went on?'” RVD stated. “I think he said he doesn’t even remember, and I don’t really remember either [laughs]. Everyone had their own personal situation, so it’s not like he was the boss running stuff. But anyway, he said something like, ‘Man, I wish I could have worked with you. We could have made so much money.'”
Van Dam would claim the TNA World title twice during run. During his podcast he also went discussed being a Hulkamaniac as a kid and happy to hear that Hogan felt that they could’ve drawn. Hogan Is also said to have put RVD as the babyface In the feud.
Is this a feud or match you would’ve enjoyed? Sound off in the comments!
