Recently an ECW Legend found himself in some very hot water. After appearing on Dark Side of The Ring during the episode covering the ‘Plane Ride From Hell’, Tommy Dreamer was pulled from the Impact Wrestling roster as well as Busted Open Radio. He’d not appear for a set of batch tapings, which spanned months of programming. However, it seems that his punishment is up – as he was on hand for their latest set of tapings.
Tommy Dreamer Defended Ric Flair, Promptly Apologized
Many fans might have not even realized that Dreamer had gotten into trouble, as stories pertaining to Impact Wrestling tend to not catch as much steam as those from AEW or WWE. What got Dreamer ‘cancelled’ was his defending of the actions of Ric Flair during the ‘Plane Ride From Hell’, where Flair was flashing flight attendants. He would issue an apology after getting backlash, which stated the following.
“Regarding my comments made on Dark Side of the Ring. It was never my intention to offend, hurt or victim shame anyone. I understand my comments were insensitive and could trigger emotions in someone’s own personal past. I do not condone sexual misconduct of any kind. I apologize to anyone I offended. From the bottom of my heart I am so sorry.”
Back Working As A Producer
Despite the apology, Dreamer was still out of action for a time – but he’s back now in Impact Wrestling. During their latest set of tapings ahead of Hard to Kill, Dreamer was on hand working as an agent and producer. There have been no reports of him wrestling during these tapings, likely putting an in-ring return for Impact out of the way until later in 2022.
