Let’s do another “Wrestling Salvage Yard”. This time it’s Savio Vega! Savio Vega in WWE You’d think Savio first showed up in WWE as Kwang back in 1994. However, his roots with WWE go back to 1987 and his time in Puerto Rico’s WWC promotion was seen as proto-developmental. When he finally debuted as full-time talent in WWE it was as the mysterious Kwang—which was really just his TNT gimmick from WWC just with a mask and different gear. As expected, the gimmick didn’t work at all and after losing to Hakushi in April 1995, he was repackaged as Savio Vega…

In their next big PPV showdown, Vader welcomes Sting to the f***ing WHITE CASTLE OF FEAR! Sting hops on a plane and flies over mountains to face the Mastodon. They end up scheduling a strap match for SuperBrawl III. Since the two scheduled their match within the confines of the WHITE CASTLE OF FEAR and not through WCW, it was declared unsanctioned and the title wasn’t on the line. WCW SuperBrawl III: Sting vs. Vader (Strap Match) I dig the progression of this feud, folks. Their first big match was a straight up one-on-one fight which Sting won. This unsanctioned…

Let’s look at three more WWE video games that you either forgot about or never knew existed. I have to say this one has one that could be considered a classic of sorts and two interesting games that were here, gone, and definitely forgotten about shortly after support for them ended. WWF Superstars (1992) The only reason this game would be considered forgotten is that it dropped on the OG Gameboy. Other than that, WWF Superstars was another run-of-the-mill early 90s wrestling game. 3 More WWE Games Lost to Time and Dust It’s simpler because it’s on a handheld. However,…

I love finding creative Ls that some of my favorite wrestlers suffer and Kane is rich with them. Last time we went into the Attitude Era storyline with X-Pac and Tori but now let’s go a little more recent. This time, we’re talking about Kane’s wrestling gear. Now, discussing wrestling gear is pretty insignificant since it doesn’t enhance the quality of a match or a storyline but it’s totally important to a wrestler’s gimmick or persona. The Big L Machine: What in the Hell Was Kane Wearing? You want wrestlers to look like wrestlers or brawlers and bruisers to…

January 1998 was a bit of a weak start for WCW with Souled Out 1998 falling short of a silver medal while Royal Rumble 1998 managed its first silver in a while on Into the Vault. However, No Way Out of Texas was a show that saw WWE revert to its bronze medal ways—then again, it was an In Your House event. Let’s dive into WCW SuperBrawl VIII featuring an MVP performance from Booker T and Hogan vs. Sting II for the World Championship! Best of the Show The opener to SuperBrawl VIII saw Rick Martel unsuccessfully defend his Television…

Rewatching a lot of The Undertaker’s matches for “Best of the Streak” has been pretty fun. There are matches that run the gamut ranging from bad to amazing. One match at the deep end—amazing, not the bad, shallow end—sees Edge take on The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXIV. Now, I’m not sure why WWE opted to return to the Roman numerals for this WrestleMania after WM23 nor do I care as the numerals always added to the epic nature of the event. None of that is important, let’s get into Taker vs. Edge! The Road to WrestleMania XXIV So, Batista and…

Royal Rumble 1998 was a pretty strong show for WWE to kick off the year. Now we head into February with No Way Out of Texas. This show marks the twentieth In Your House event and is main evented by an unsanctioned eight-man tag team match. Best of the Show Taka Michinoku and Pantera really showed out in ten minutes they were given as Taka defended the gorgeous red-strapped Light Heavyweight title. My only complaint about this match is that it should’ve been given the remainder of the opener’s time—we’ll discuss it in “The Rest” portion but it should’ve been shorter—and…

There’s always interest when a new league pops up with the intent of being a pro league instead of a semi-pro league such as the Alliance of American Football. Also of interest are revived leagues such as the XFL and now the United States Football League. The New USFL Is Making Moves as April 2022 Debut Nears: Will Be Based in Birmingham Like the original USFL, it will be working with a spring season, a smaller league of eight teams, and—for the first season—basing its games out of central location. Birmingham, Alabama was announced as the league’s home starting out. While XFL…
