Train wrecks, car crashes call them what you will but these matches that fall between raw and sloppy entertain me immensely. One such bout is L.A Park vs. MASADA at Lucha Libre Boom’s Hardcoreween from November 2016. It’s the Train Wreck Theater where we look spotty matches or hardcore matches—bouts that tend to fall under “car crashes” or “train wrecks” and see if they’re mild and over maligned or if they’re truly as awful as people say. Now this bout was never really maligned but seeing a ton of brawls, hardcore matches, and deathmatches from both men, I can say that they get wild and unruly.…
While watching Super Bowl LV, my brother brought up very specific achievements in sports. See, there was a time when the only achievements of note were ones that are documented in their stats. Being grand slam champion has always been there. Stuff like most career home runs, most touchdowns, most hat tricks in a single game. How about most career 3-pointers or career yardage? Now, you’ll hear some really specific or obscure achievements. An example would be the most successful passes thrown by a left-handed quarterback during an AFC game. Now, this isn’t an achievement or career fact but if it was, who cares?…
We went into Chris Kanyon who started his career as an enhancement talent for World Championship Wrestling in 1995. This occurred at just the right time as he right there before the hot WCW vs. new World order run. His rise came under a mask as Mortis, one of Glacier’s mortal foes. Joining him against Glacier was Wrath. With more of a spotlight and more flexibility to contribute to a storyline, he was able to display more of his in-ring ability. That’s where we’re starting off with this 3-Up Spotlight. What are three special ingredients that Kanyon possessed that should’ve seen him as a bigger star in WCW? …
Last week was very busy for the recently formed Cyber Fight alliance which includes Pro-Wrestling NOAH (NOAH), Dramatic Dream Team (DDT), and Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling (TJPW). This was all capped off with the announcement that NOAH’s recently crowned GHC Heavyweight Champion, Keiji Muto, be defending the title against former champion Kaito Kiyomiya on 3/14 at NOAH GREAT VOYAGE 2021 IN FUKUOKA. There was also an interesting bit of foreshadowing from the 58-year-old legend Keiji Mutoh about defending the GHC Heavyweight title in the U.S. Muto on Defending the GHC Heavyweight Championship In a translated press conference clip tweeted by TNAmarkFromIndia, Keiji Muto mentioned that a…
We’re back with more Into the Vault and it’s a march to finish out 1996. Let’s get into WWE Survivor Series 1996 from November 17, 1996. Low-Tier The third Series bout of the night? Oof. With the Fake Diesel and Razor? Le double oof. This is WWE experiencing a lack of consistency. I mean there’s talent on both teams here with Vader, Faarooq, and the Fake Outsiders taking on Yokozuna, Savio Vega, Flash Funk, and Jimmy Snuka. Then it’s short—which I’m not complaining about—and placed towards the end of the show. This should’ve probably swapped with another Series bout since Bret vs. Austin was so lengthy. Actually, given that it was short, it’s…
When I do Into the Vault, I like to make sure there’s at least a year’s worth of shows. Fortunately, WWE has most of the ECW shows such as ECW November to Remember 1996. Yeah, it was Raven vs. Dreamer and Raven vs. The Sandman but Raven’s Nest was fighting with everyone in the company before Raven bounced for WCW. Let’s get into November to Remember 1996! Low-Tier Axl Rotten vs. Hack Meyers was as expected but we’ve seen Axl in better bouts in 1996. I’m surprised it wasn’t put third to cool everyone down but it had a solid place…
We’re doing another “3-Up Spotlight” and this time it’s another WCW alum in “The Prince of Punk” Shannon Moore. Has long has it been that he was “The Prince of Punk” and “The Reject”? Shannon Moore Could Handle Himself on the Mic This is something that we didn’t see much of in Moore’s career on TV. The man could deliver a punchy, brief face promo. Hell, he could’ve probably done longer promos if given time earlier in his career. The thing is that he was never really positioned to where he would need to regularly do promos. While wrestlers are…
WWE WrestleMania VI was a major event booked towards operating in a future without Hulk Hogan. Almost 68,000 fans crammed into the SkyDome in Toronto for the ultimate clash. Obviously—at the time—two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Hulk Hogan was there. His opponent was the then Intercontinental champion The Ultimate Warrior. In a match billed as “The Ultimate Challenge”, Ultimate Warrior managed to defeat Hogan after 24-minutes of action to wield both titles. Warrior eventually relinquished the IC championship. A Tale as Old as Time: The Successor to Hulk Hogan The Hulkster made WWE his home in 1983. At 30-years old, he still had a lot…
Earlier this week, Major League Wrestling has released the matches for tomorrow’s episode of MLW Fusion. We’re getting an inter-promotional title match as well as a Caribbean Strap match. It appears to be an interesting show on paper but we’ll have to see if it delivers better than the previous three episodes. Check out the scheduled matches. MLW Fusion #119 -#1 Contendership for MLW World Tag Team Titles: Violence is Forever vs. TJP & Bu Ku Dao -AAA World Cruiserweight Title: Laredo Kid [c] vs. Zenshi -IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Title – Caribbean Strap Match: Savio Vega [c] vs. Richard Holliday Major League Wrestling keeps with its tidy three…

His recent acts in costing sworn enemies the Von Erichs their Tag Team belts and possibly being linked to the ACH attack has spooked…
