I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.

Ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, to give you the results and recaps of tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw! The opening segment just came and as promised, the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar made a rare appearance to address who will be facing him at the WWE Royal Rumble. Suffice to say, it went into a very unexpected direction. Paul Heyman explained that they had discussed who would be challenging him, discussed who would be worthy only to conclude that nobody was man enough to face him one-on-one. So ultimately they decided that everyone who wanted…

The main event saw Kazuchika Okada take on Tetsuya Naito, both men’s titles on the line. IWGP Heavyweight Champion vs. IWGP Intercontinental Champion. It was the epic clash between the two biggest modern day pillars in New Japan Pro Wrestling. And in the end, somehow, someway, Naito finally did it… he beat the unbeatable, dethroning Kazuchika Okada and taking the IWGP Heavyweight title from him at the Tokyo Dome, a feat that seemed impossible at this point. Counting his match with Ibushi last night, Okada has gone into the Tokyo Dome with the title five times before and retained every…

It was the epic. It was the biggest match possible, on the biggest stage available. Kazuchika Okada. Tetsuya Naito. The undisputed ace, and the leading alternative. It was fitting that it came down to the two of them on what was tipped to be the biggest, most historic two nights in the history of New Japan Pro Wrestling. Naito and Okada did battle in a match befitting their status. It was an exchange of masterful skill, amidst one of the most incredible atmospheres for a match I’ve ever seen. The Tokyo Dome was filled with around 40,000 diehards and their…

As grandiose and historically significant as the Gold Double Dash obviously was, in the lead-up to the event, it was arguable whether it was truly the most important match of the night. For many, the bout between Chris Jericho and Hiroshi Tanahashi had a special significance, for it’s stipulation promised a truly earth-shattering, business altering change. Jericho is of course the AEW World Champion, holding the top prize at All Elite Wrestling, the upstart US promotion that, by the nature of it’s birth, garnered a lot of ire from New Japan. The two share many fans, in America and Japan…

Jay White and Kota Ibushi were on the wrong side of the history that was made here tonight. Wrestle Kingdom 14, a two night spectacular, was centered around the Double Gold Dash, in which the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles would first be defended individually on Night 1, then both be up for grabs in the same match on Night 2. G1 Climax winner Kota Ibushi ultimately failed in his attempt at taking the Heavyweight crown from Kazuchika Okada, and Intercontinental Champion Jay White ended up dropping to Tetsuya Naito. That left the two dejected and angry competitors against one…

When KENTA laid out Katsuyori Shibata and joined the Bullet Club, it was clear that someone needed to get him back. With Shibata unable to get cleared in time to face his former friend himself, his closest ally Hirooki Goto stepped up to avenge him instead. Before he could manage this however, KENTA defeated Goto’s Chaos stable-mate Tomohiro Ishii to win the NEVER Openweight Championship, further adding fuel to the fire for an already intense grudge match. When the bout itself came, it was unsurprisingly brutal and vicious. Hirooki Goto came in with an anger and ferocity that is rarely…
