AEW Dynamite is almost over, all we have left now is the ten lashes that Cody Rhodes will take from MJF. And out comes the man himself, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, all too happy with what’s about to happen. Cody Rhodes makes his way out with the full entrance, big pyro, wearing a suit and coat. But he’ll have to bare his back for this segment and he’s already stripping down as we go to commercial.
Chant of Cody and some cat whistles as he finishes taking off his shirt when we come back. He poses and gets the crowd going as he tenses up for what’s about to happen. MJF on the mic to say hold on… tells Cody he thinks this is far too nice a belt to touch him. He wants Cody’s belt. Now! Chant of “asshole” as Cody pulls his belt off and tosses it to him. MJF gets in his face, makes him turn around. Cracks the leather behind his back just to tease him, laughs as he flinches, crowd jeers. Chant of Cody’s name much louder now.
And there’s the first shot, and it’s a mean one. MJF takes his time, pulls off his jacket. The mercenary squad make their way onto the stage. Kip Sabian, Sammy Guevara, Britt Baker… the heel locker room spills to the stage to watch. MJF with the second whip crack and dang that one’s loud, Cody whips around by instinct and MJF is daring him to hit him!
And the third is even louder, Cody falls to his knees!
Arn Anderson making his way out now to a pop! He goes around the ring to instruct Cody as the crowd chants for Arn. MJF tries to scare him off, yells at him that he can’t help him. Cody presents his back aagin. And there’s the fourth one, it really got his shoulder there! MJF gets in his face and demands that he quit! Cody gets to his feet and the crowd energizes him for the next one! And there’s the fifth! Definitely some ugly red marks on that left shoulder as he collapses again! Dustin Rhodes to the ring now, seems to be asking to take them instead! MJF gets on the mic and verifies that, says that’s not how this works, it has to be him. Tells him to get out of this ring and watch along with everybody else.
Cody on his feet again, and this time MJF surprises him with two quick ones, six and seven!
Young Bucks coming down the ramp now as MJF again screams at Cody to quit. Cody Rhodes rolls to the outside and Matt and Nick give him some moral support. Red welts all across the ring as Cody rolls into the ring. Cody primes for number eight… MJF gets into his face, looks to be trying to bait him into swinging now. And there’s the eighth! He’s on his knees again and MJF demands that he stay down. Can barely make his way up now. On one knee, he asks for two more, then flips MJF off.
Wardlow stops Max… Dustin yells that this isn’t the deal but it seems Wardlow wants a lash now! Crowd giving Wardlow grief now! And the big man with a big lash, Cody collapses! Crowd chants for Cody’s name as he shakes the ropes, fighting with all he has… but he collapses again. MJF says, “Guess you’re not getting the match”… Brandi Rhodes makes her way out now! Grabs Cody’s hand. She’s giving him moral support, saying he has one more and he can do it!
And he gets back to his feet, turns… MJF with the tenth right to the chest!
Cody falls and MJF is furious that he made it through all ten! Cody’s friends help him out… MJF with a sneaky low blow and then he dashes from the ring, into the crowd to escape! And we go off the air with that!
