The Royal Rumble has become an excellent match when it comes to surprise entrants, be it people returning from injury or legends who people did not expect to see again. With the three WWE rosters so incredibly stacked, it will be hard to fit any returns into the field of 30 as you fit the essential stars from Smackdown, RAW & NXT in the match. Despite this, Booker T seems like he is ready to lace up his boots again and show the new generation how it’s done.
Booker T Is Still In The Gym
In a simple tweet from his Twitter page, Booker T said “Still in the gym. #RumbleReady” alongside a picture of him working out. Since his retirement from in-ring action in 2012, he has laced his boots up occasionally. Two of these matches have been for his promotion Reality Of Wrestling, where in 2015 he teamed with Harlem Heat partner & brother Stevie Ray to defeat The Heavenly Bodies (Desirable Dustin & Gigolo Justin) to win the ROW tag team championships, and again in 2019 he faced Rex Andrews at ROW The Last Stand. He also faced UK talent Lionheart in a match in 2016, with Noam Dar as the special guest referee.
Between just remaining someone who actively works out and being a trainer at a wrestling school, it is no wonder that Booker T is still in fantastic shape. As far as legends who haven’t been in a WWE ring in years go, Booker T is one of the few who seem like they wouldn’t just embarrass themselves and their legacy. Booker T could show exactly why he is a two time entrant into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Who Else Could Shock Fans At The Royal Rumble?
Unpredictability makes for the best type of Royal Rumble match. Fans eagerly await seeing who comes out next, and WWE recognizes this to give us some surprises. They already had John Morrison return on Smackdown, so unfortunately he won’t be someone who is able to shock fans a the rumble. There has been rumblings of Edge making a return to the ring, after retiring in 2011 due to neck issues. A few people could be returning from injury soon, so we can’t count out seeing someone like Velveteen Dream show up for the first time in months. It will be interesting to see who shows up this year, like always.
