We have another edition of Friday Night SmackDown to look forward to here tonight, featuring a big time fatal four way tag team match! John Morrison & The Miz vs. The Revival vs. Heavy Machinery vs. Lucha House Party, here tonight! My name is Jordan Huie, and I am glad to have you here with us tonight! You are visiting the Overtimer, where you can expect the same coverage as always for WWE Friday Night SmackDown! We have four matches announced in advance for this evening, a bit of a rarity with weekly shows in WWE. So I’ll be sure to take advantage of that and give you the previews for each one! So let’s get it started with…
John Morrison & The Miz vs. Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight) vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) vs. Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado)
That is certainly a lot of names! We’ve got ourselves a fatal four way tag team match here tonight. The winners will go on to face the New Day for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team titles at Super Show-Down. Honestly, when I first looked at the graphic, I was sorta thinking it’d be a tag battle royal. I think I blame that on the silly Lucha House Party gimmick that they’re apparently bringing back here, where they get to have three people whilst everybody else has two, for absolutely no reason. Because the best way to get people over as babyfaces is to give them an inherently unfair advantage for no explicable reason. And then have them never win anything, even with this.
But regardless, they join the Revival, a team that wants to leave and has wanted to leave for the past year. I’ve personally been looking forward to that jump for a while. Now, WWE has actually made a habit of throwing tag titles at them to get them to stay over the past 12 months. But I don’t see it being a thing during Mania season, that’s a little too much of a spotlight to give to people who are very likely to be leaving shortly after.
That leaves us with the two teams that this will almost certainly come down to. Heavy Machinery and Miz & Morrison. John Morrison and the Miz have been the obvious direction for the New Day since they reformed and I’ve always looked at it as a Mania match. But it’s not at all impossible that they go ahead and do it in Saudi Arabia next month, so they can give it a wonky finish that sets up a Mania rematch. It’d be on-brand, in fact. So I guess I’ll go with Miz & Morrison.
