It was a brutal fight to be sure, as anticipated. Killian Dain, Damian Priest and Pete Dunne are three of NXT’s roughest costumers and they’ve had a gritty three-way feud over the past couple of months. It finally came to a head in Chicago at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in a very high stakes match-up!
After all, the winner not only got bragging rights in putting down two top rivals, but they would end up earning an NXT Championship match and a very high profile one at that!
It was a wild affair, nearfalls aplenty and some real hard hitting brutality. Dain and Priest both showed what wildly athletic high flying big men they can be. For Dain in particular it’s just so liberating seeing him get to do this again, speaking personally, he was one of the most utterly wasted main roster call-ups out there which is really saying something.
But when all was said and done, it was Pete Dunne pulling out the win. And given the stip, he was really the only choice. The record holder for longest NXT UK Champion in history, Dunne is one of the most successful and protected figures in NXT. He’s also an extremely talented and beloved one. Honestly, it’s not hard to see him becoming NXT Champion at some point.
Having said that, I don’t expect him to pick up that win tomorrow night. It should be an awesome match though, and Dunne’s a worthy man to be getting that spot.
NXT TakeOver WarGames continues and I’ll be giving you the updates on all the major results!
