Stu Bennett (fka Wade Barrett) To Join The National Wrestling Alliance Commentary Booth at Into The Fire

NWA fans, I’m afraid we’ve got some bad news. Or great news depending on how you feel about the former Wade Barrett (now known as Stu Bennett), as he will be filling the gap left by Jim Cornette on the NWA commentary booth going forward. The former Intercontental Champion has been staying involved in wrestling since leaving WWE back in May of 2016, but hasn’t laced up his boots since. He has prefered a suit & headset.

Stu Bennett and his Post WWE Career

Since leaving WWE, Bennett has done commentary for companies like Defiant Wrestling and the revival of World Of Sport. He also appeared briefly in Lucha Underground, at the end of their fourth season. With that show being essentially dead, we will never see what would have become of him in the cinematic style of Lucha Underground. Speaking of cinematic, he also picked up work as an actor, putting his good looks and charisma to good work in movies like Eliminators and I Am Vengeance.

Can He Fill Jim Cornettes Shoes?

Jim Cornette on NWA commentary was a crucial part of the show for many. His voice was a great call back to the era that NWA Powerrr reaches back to. His antics got him and NWA in hot water, causing him to resign and mess with how tapings would play out for NWA Powerrr. Bennett, while not as experienced as a commentator, will at least be able to be trusted not to embarrass the company with outdated and racially charged jokes. His voice will take some getting used to, and fans will want him to step into the ring before long, but he will do fine to handle the responsibilities going forward.

NWA Into The Fire Preview

Into The Fire will be airing on December 14th, 2019 from the same location as NWA Powerrr. Tickets are long sold out, but anyone can watch via Fite.tv for the asking price of 20$. Announced matches include a 2/3 Falls Match for the NWA Championship between champion Nick Aldis & James Storm, The Rock n’ Roll Express vs. The Wild Cards, Trevor Murdoch vs. The Question Mark, Eli Drake vs. Mr. Anderson, a triple threat for the NWA National Championship between champion Colt Cabana  vs. Aron Stevens vs. Ricky Starks, and finally a womens tag match between Allysin Kay and Ashley Vox vs. Melina and her choice of Thunder Rosa or Marti Belle.
