AEW Dark rolls on! Up next, the Brazilian Christi Jaynes makes her debut against Big Swole Ariel Monroe. Jaynes is up first and has kind of a peacock look and Flamenco music as she dances her way out.
Big Swole vs. Christi Jaynes
Christie is relaxing on the top rope as the bell rings. Tie-up, Monroe wins out and gets her in the corners, though Jaynes tries to fight out and manages to break the hold. Swole with a waistlock, Jaynes with a top wristlock reversal, Ariel with a hammerlock and into a headlock. Side headlock takeover, Jaynes tries to turn it into a pin but Swole hoists her up, keeping the lock in. Jaynes reverses the headlock. Monroe shoots her off, Jaynes tries a shoulderblock but it’s no sold. Monroe with a shoulder block of her own, sending her to the mat, capped with a flex!
Jaynes wants an arm drag but Ariel reverses! “She’s Too Swole” chant! Big Swole looking for a Test of Strength. Jaynes takes her up on it but she loses out quickly. Ariel pulls her up, power whip to the corner, Jaynes staggers out and Ariel waylays her with a hard lariato! Jaynes avoids the corner charge with a roll, Monroe goes onto the second rope but a running enziguri takes her to the floor! Jaynes pulls Monroe back to the apron and grinds her throat on the middle rope. Pulls her in, snapmare, kick to the back! Takes her to her feet, hairmare and another kick to the back.
Ariel fighting back, kicks her away, combo of strikes including a headbutt to the gut, uppercut to the chin, big headbutt to the jaw! Jaynes back body drops her to the apron but Swole gets a WWE Headkick, springs in for the Cutter! “Swole” chant, Jaynes tries to fight back but Monroe spins into the Dirty Dancing Ripcord Elbow and that’s that!
Winner: Big Swole
Maybe it’s just because the crowd reactions sound louder now thanks to the increased production it’s had of late, but these matches on Dark seem to be a lot better than they were at the point where I was recapping them before. Swole came off very well there, and Jaynes was a perfectly giving opponent for the evening. Big Swole definitely could have a bright future if handled well.
