On this past weeks episode of AEW Dynamite, there was an angle to close out the show where Matt Hardy went face to face with Chris Jericho. During this, Hardy appeared in the stands where a crowd would normally be to start the proceedings, only to teleport down the stands in poorly editted fashion. While this was an incredibly entertaining display to be sure, it left many fans feeling this shouldn’t have made the cut for TV, and that it felt out of place in AEW. Because of this, the story has been changed on what happened with Matt Hardy.
Vanguard-1 Displayed An Array Of Images Of Matt Hardy
While The Broken Universe remains untapped for AEW, one aspect beyond Hardy has made it’s way in. This is his faithful drone, Vanguard-1. After Jericho failed to recruit the drone into The Inner Circle, it would call forth it’s master, Matt Hardy. This is when the teleportation shtick began, but that has since been changed. In a tweet from Matt Hardy, he explained this. “Heavens to NERIC, Vanguard 1.. Our plan at last week’s AEW Dynamite was PRACTICALLY PERFECT. We left The Maker of Pain Chris Jericho absolutely MENTALLY INTERCOURSED after you & the Aerial Assault Robots FLAWLESSLY projected my plan. It was MAGIC.”
The offical AEW account boosted this message, adding the following. “Teleportation? No, Matt Hardy explains how Vanguard 1 and his fleet of Aerial Assault Drones projected an array of images of The Broken One to confuse Chris Jericho and hasten the Painmaker’s descent into madness during last week’s AEW Dynamite”
Another Example Of AEW Listening To Their Fans
AEW has been able to build up a lot of good will with their fanbase, due to them being quick to fix complaints like this. Fans thought that this was overly goofy, and while the prospect of an unseen fleet of drones projecting images of Hardy is not exactly the most serious, it is better. We also saw this in the updated attire of Brodie Lee on this past weeks episode, and times in the past with changes to commentary and stopping whatever was planned for Nightmare Collective.
Do you think AEW listening to their fans is what prompted this change of story, or was this how it was planned to be explained the whole time? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
