The third match of the March 6, 2020, Super Viernes event put on by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) at Arena Mexico in Mexico City was a showcase between two of the best wrestlers on the CMLL roster.

Going into their match on Friday, Titan was 3-1 against his adversary. More importantly than their singles match record, is the international rise both have experienced over the past several years. Titan and Soberano Jr have made a name for themselves throughout the IWGP Conception, especially in their home promotion of CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), which has brought their talents to an international audience.
A CMLL Lightning match consists of a single fall and a ten minute time limit. While that typically isn’t enough time to let a match breathe, Titan and Soberano Jr put on a great showing.
Titan would end up winning the match, but Soberano Jr wasn’t hurt by his showing against a champion with a belt higher up the CMLL pecking order. The match was also the best match of the night and provided as a showcase for the future of the promotion.
Frustratingly, the match ending in eight minutes and fifty-five seconds was only a taste of the match the two could put on with one another.
It will be interesting to see how CMLL plans to showcase both champions throughout 2020.
