Alright everybody, one left for tonight. It’s that time again, as we’re on the cusp of another installment of the Wednesday Night Wars! And with that being said, we’ve got ourselves another episode of AEW Dynamite to look forward to this evening! Our new AEW World Champion Jon Moxley is pairing up with the enigmatic Darby Allin, a truly formidable duo to be sure, to take on Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara of the Inner Circle! My name is Jordan Huie, you are here at the Overtimer where you can expect the same recap and results tonight as always for tonight’s show! Plus, a preview of everything that’s in store this evening! Though this week it took a little longer than usual, we did end up getting a full card as per the norm from Dynamite. We have but the main event left to cover now!
Jon Moxley & Darby Allin vs. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
Mere days ago, Jon Moxley unseated the AEW World Champion Chris Jericho at AEW Revolution, All Elite Wrestling’s first PPV of the year. In the process, he took off his eyepatch to reveal that his eye had already healed! Jericho was so stunned to see this that the challenger was able to drop him and claim the prize. Now, we live in an age where Chris Jericho is Le Ex Champion… and the Moxley era has begun.
While I did predict this result, it was far from a guarantee. One person who was quite sure however was Darby Allin. His signs leading up to AEW Revolution ended up being quite prophetic. He predicted not only his own victory over Sammy Guevara, but also that Mox would be taking the world title from Chris Jericho. This turned out to be prophetic.
Whilst neither Mox nor Allin are out to make friends, it does seem like we’re seeing a bit of a relationship develop between the two like-minded competitors. In theory Jon Moxley would make for a fine mentor figure for someone like Darby, though whether he’d want something like that, I couldn’t really say. The two certainly suit each other though and should make for a great test for Chris Jericho and his right-hand-man tonight in this match. For the Inner Circle’s side, Jericho has to be in a rage over what’s just happened and we’ll see that come to a forefront this evening. But I’m gonna say Mox and Allin over, as the champ probably ain’t losing his first night with the gold.
