In recent weeks, we have seen the return of The Celtic Warrior himself, Sheamus. The four time world champion is back to being a dominant force after being placed on the shelf with injury. He has now revealed in a new interview that he feared that during that time off, his career was over.
Lots Went Through The Mind Of Sheamus
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he said the following: ‘No, I didn’t know. After the last concussion, I was sitting on the couch for a couple of weeks – I couldn’t do anything… A lot of things went through my mind. ‘Maybe I can’t do this anymore, maybe for my own health I should retire, maybe I should just go away.’
It would be a workout session with Edge that motivated him to push for one last run in WWE. For those who don’t know, Sheamus runs a YouTube Channel known as Celtic Warrior workouts, which is how he came back to WWE in such incredible shape. A common thing for this channel is for Sheamus to work out with a fellow WWE star or an alumni like Edge.
Seeing The Intercontinental Championship Is What Made Up His Mind
While Sheamus has done just about everything there is to do in WWE, there is one accolade that alludes him. This is of course the WWE Intercontinental Championship. While working out at Edge’s home gym, he noticed that Edge had a wall with all the championships he had won. ‘I was looking around going, “This man has done it all”. Then I saw the Intercontinental Title on the wall, and that’s the one championship I haven’t won. ‘I can’t retire, I need to get my hands on that. I need to get back out there and finish strong!’
Having a strong goal in mind is sometimes all it can take to push someone to accomplish something. The WWE Intercontinental Championship is currently held by Sami Zayn, who with the help of Cesaro & Nakamura defeated previous champion Braun Strowman. Once WWE begins to figure out their next few months of storylines, we could very well see Sheamus continue his warpath right to the step of Sami Zayn.
