Impact Wrestling were going to do something truly special over Wrestlemania weekend. They were getting ready for a One Night Only show for the ages, a return to the days of Total Nonstop Action. With a build featuring names from the past showing back up, chances for amazing things were everywhere. Rumored names that would have appeared include Monty Brown, Chris Harris, Generation Me and many more from the past of the company. One thing that has since be confirmed that would have happened is a reunion of one of the best Junior Heavyweight Tag Teams ever, The Motor City Machine Guns.
Alex Shelley Confirmed This On Twitter
One of the hottest free agents in wrestling today is Alex Shelley. He has been popping up everywhere lately despite wrestling only being part time for him now, including a reunion of the Timesplitters with KUSHIDA in NXT as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. While going over this intended agenda for that weekend, he revealed that a reunion with his most iconic tag team partner, Chris Sabin, would have happened. It has been a few years since we have seen the Motor City Machine Guns in action, which would have made this a huge deal. He was also set to wrestle Tony Deppen for Game Changer Wrestling, and team with Danhausen for Black Label Pro, which he made special gear for.
Motor City Machine Guns Would Have Likely Faced Old Rivals
With this show now being a missed concept, we can’t know for sure who they would have faced for this reunion match. One strong option was the current Impact Wrestling tag team champions, The North (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander), but due to the nature of the show, another match was more likely. They helped put a certain elite tag team on the map with a series of matches in Impact, with them at that point being Max & Jeremy Buck, Generation Me. They would later change their name to The Young Bucks, and help change the wrestling world. With The Young Bucks having improved greatly since they were in Impact Wrestling, and the novelty of a Motor City Machine Guns reunion, this could have been one of the best matches of the weekend.
Hopefully when things get back to the status quo, we will see this planned TNA show, with this planned reunion of Motor City Machine Guns. Who do you think they would have faced at this event? Let us know what you think of their product in the comment section down below.
