When it comes to the huge batch of releases from WWE that happened recently, there is no name with more potential than Rusev. The Bulgarian Brute was a major player during his time in WWE, being a former United States Champion who once drove a tank into Wrestlemania to face John Cena. He was never a World Champion, but he won over fans every time he entered the ring. Now that he is a free agent, he could have a chance to become a major player for WWE’s rising rival, All Elite Wrestling.
Jim Ross Wants Rusev In WWE
While his main role is that of a commentator for AEW, Jim Ross is a respected legend in professional wrestling who has influence in any locker room he is part of. While speaking with Conrad Thompson for the Grilling JR Podcast, Rusev came up as a point of conversation.
“I think that Rusev is the kind of guy that you can bring in and he’d be a great contender for any title,” Ross said. “Would I like to see a Moxley/Rusev match? Of course, I would. I’m a wrestling fan, why wouldn’t I? To me, he would be my priority. But he’s the kind of guy – they missed on him. WWE missed on Rusev and they gave him a great build, the invested … and they just all of a sudden boom. I don’t know what was the reason for the boom. He worked on his body, he’s lean and he looks great, he’s young…”
Jim Ross would finish by saying he would love to call some high level matches from Rusev in AEW. It is easy to see Jim Ross is a big fan, and it’s clear why. Rusev has star written all over him, and it’s a mystery why WWE didn’t ensure he was a multiple time World Champion. He always had the look, the in ring ability, and fans got behind him as both a heel or a face.
Do you think Rusev will be a good signing for All Elite Wrestling? Who would you like to see him face on their roster? Should they also sign Aiden English to be his manager once again? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
