Jim Ross Lets Taped AEW Championship Match Slip, Who Is The First Opponent Of Jon Moxley?

Jim Ross Lets Taped AEW Championship Match Slip, Who Is The First Opponent Of Jon Moxley?

All Elite Wrestling, much like WWE are smartly taping content while still able to do so. As the situation in America gets worse with COVID-19, state governments are starting to lock down including in Florida, the home of AEW. Because of this, they are taking advantage of Daily’s Place being owned by the Khan family to tape weeks of TV in advance, likely for both AEW Dynamite & Dark. While on the Wrestling Observer Radio with Dave Meltzer & Jim Valley, Jim Ross let a taped match for the AEW Championship slip.

Jon Moxley Defended His AEW Championship Against Jake Hager

While Jim Ross didn’t say who won or lost in this match, he simply stated that it was taped and was a great match. Jon Moxley won the AEW Championship from Chris Jericho at AEW Revolution, but The Inner Circle isn’t done with him yet. Last week, we saw ‘Big Hurt’ Jake Hager attack Jon Moxley, leading to a brawl. During this, Moxley made it clear that he would beat Hager if needed. This makes this match not too surprising, especially as Hager was the #4 ranked competitor in AEW with an undefeated record. While Moxley vs. Hager is likely a great match much like Jim Ross said, it makes sense to do it on TV for free as that wouldn’t be a great PPV headliner.  It would be odd to take the title off Moxley so early, making the result fairly obvious.

Who Should Defeat Moxley For The AEW Championship?

While we are unlikely to see an AEW title change until a major PPV infront of a crowd, there are a few good options to defeat Jon Moxley. The first is MJF, who is rising through the ranks and is the fasting rising star in professional wrestling today. Kenny Omega is another option, as he still has yet to get revenge following a huge loss to Moxley at Full Gear, and fans eager to see more from them. The final likely suspect is Brodie Lee, as putting the AEW Championship on The Exalted One would legitimize the Dark Order instantly. Who do you think will be the one to eventually end the title reign of Jon Moxley? Are you excited to see Jon Moxley vs. Jake Hager? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
