The second match of the February 22, 2020, Pro Wrestling Revolution (PWR) event in San Jose, California didn’t disappoint. Border Patrol members Dave Dutra/Colt Stevens, El Gavilan/El Amante, and Los Lucha (Phoenix Star/Zokre) met in what turned out to be an exciting and scary contest.
Los Luchas were NWA World Tag Team Champions for 237 days in 2008, and are one of the most underrated tag teams in the world. Colt Stevens came out wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, which helped draw even more heat from the crowd. To add to the live audience’s dislike of Border Patrol; member Sparky Ballard was the assigned referee to the match.
This was an exciting match that Ballard attempted multiple times to flip in the favor of Border Patrol. A scary moment happened with Colt Stevens seemingly hurting his wrist after diving off the top rope for a Leg Drop Face Slam. The match went on for several more minutes, ending with a pinfall victory for the Technico (Face) team of El Gavilan/El Amante after Dutra hit both members of Los Lucha with a low blow.
Los Luchas and El Gavilan & El Amante showed each other respect after the match. Fans of tag team wrestling will find themselves at home with this match as it delivered everything the modern independent style would expect it to.
Per usual, Stevens looked really good in the ring. El Gavilan and El Amante seem to have chemistry as a unit.
The entire event can be seen on FITE.
