The first of two headline matches on Pro Wrestling Revolution’s (PWR) November 16, 2019 event saw a ladder match between Bestia 666, the son solid long-term Lucha Libre midcarder, Damian 666 and Colt Stevens for the PWR Junior Heavyweight Championship. Unlike the major of ladder matches, this match was wrestled under ‘fall rules’ meaning the first competitor to get a fall was declared the winner and champion.
Stevens drew a plethora of heat from the crowd, due to Border Patrol’s work over previous PWR events and their fiery promo to begin the event on November 19th — making it easy for Bestia to get the reaction PWR intended.
This match was extremely entertaining, both Bestia 666 and Colt Stevens know how to perform a solid match. The match brought multiple styles to the table, several clever moments, and everything made the viewer uncertain over who would come out victorious.
Bestia 666 showed why he is one of the best independent wrestlers on the Lucha Libre scene in Mexico. While he has received bookings in high-level independent promotions in the United States, he remains far from a household name in the US wrestling scene. Surprisingly, he hasn’t branched out more, nor has he had an extensive tour with a major promotion based in Japan.
Earlier this year Colt Stevens made an appearance for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), wrestling in an enhancement match as Devon Dixie. His match against Bestia 666 is an example of the high-level work he can put together when given the opportunity.
Bestia 666 would defeat Colt Stevens in a grueling match to win the PWR Junior Heavyweight Championship. The crowd gave a standing ovation for both wrestlers, Stevens would grab the microphone and scream that he didn’t need the applause from the “illegal” fans — preserving the vile nature of his character.
The entire event can be seen on FITE. This match alone is worth taking a look at the card.
