The first match of the November 16, 2019, Pro Wrestling Revolution (PWR) event brought traditional Lucha Libre action to the forefront after a heated promo broke the crowd in from Border Patrol.
The Rudo (Heel) team of Alonzo Alvarez, Papo Esco, and Fuerza Aztecta faced Zuca, Metalachi, and El Gavilan. The early portion of the match saw El Gavilan frustrate Fuerza Azteca for several minutes with festive dancing, to the delight of the crowd — a common aspect of Lucha Libre that plays into the festival nature of live crowds.
Alonzo Alvarez was impressive throughout in what was a decent match that did everything it was expected to. The live crowd got into the match, not being too bothered by minor miscues, and gave the wrestlers a solid reaction during high points of the match.
This was a good match to follow a temperature raising open to the show and brought the crowd back into a calmer mood — especially when the Technico (Face) team had the upper hand.
Papo Esco would get the fall over Metalachi, in a match that would fit in a Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) undercard. While not the best match of the night, it wasn’t supposed to be.
The entire card can be seen via FITE, and the match is worth watching to appreciate the progression and build of the event.
