WWE Friday Night SmackDown is on tonight and as always, you’ll see the results and links to in-depth recaps of the show below!
Segment 1: SmackDown began with the New Day making their way out to celebrate their eighth WWE Tag Team Title victory after getting the SmackDown championships in a singles triple threat last week. They are then interrupted by Lucha House Party, the Miz and John Morrison and the Forgotten Sons. The latter of the three clear the ring and lay out The New Day.
Segment 2: In the first match of the night, Drew Gulak took on King Corbin in a Men’s Money In The Bank qualifying match. Gulak had control of the match until Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro attacked Daniel Bryan at ringside, distracting him. King Corbin got the win with an End of Days and afterwards a triple team left Gulak laying.
Segment 3: Sheamus quickly squashes Daniel Vidot and gets increasingly frustrated at Cole, threatening him physically for continuing to talk about Jeff Hardy. Then, the Miz and John Morrison squared off with Lucha House Party’s Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik. In a surprising outcome, Metalik caught the Miz with a Wheelbarrow Victory Roll for an upset win!
Segment 4: Sasha Banks squared off with Lacey Evans in the next match, a Women’s Money In The Bank qualifier. During the match, Bayley interfered to help Sasha but in the process she distracted the ref, which cost Sasha who otherwise had Lacey pinned. Sasha then bickered with Bayley, which allowed her to be hit with another Woman’s Right and Lacey got the victory. Tamina then superkicked Bayley as Sasha just watched.
Segment 5: After a quick look at the history between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt, we move on to the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match, in which Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defended the titles against Carmella and Dana Brooke. Bliss-Cross got the win with a Snapshot, the old finisher of MNM, to retain the championships.
Segment 6: To close the show was a seemingly endless segment in which Triple H celebrated his 25th anniversary in WWE, largely an excuse to let Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon mock him, as well as having some cameos from Stephanie McMahon, Ric Flair and Road Dogg.
