WWE Friday Night SmackDown is on tonight. We’re getting the final Money In The Bank qualifiers from the SmackDown side here tonight, including Carmella and Mandy Rose fighting out for the final spot in the women’s MITB ladder match. You can expect the same in-depth coverage as always here, including a live recap and results, plus previews of everything that’s been announced. We’ve got more than usual in that department for a WWE show this evening, so let’s get into it!
Carmella vs. Mandy Rose (Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match Qualifier)
Both of these women have other things on their mind other than this MITB qualifier, even if Carmella’s issues seemed to kinda spawn out of nowhere in a less-than-organic way. By contrast, Mandy’s split and feud with Sonya Deville which really just now started in earnest has been foreshadowed for several months now. It’s been clear for a long time that they see a ton of potential in Mandy Rose. Supposedly she’s been thought of as the next Trish Stratus internally for years. While this no doubt started with her looks, every indication is that she’s a fine athlete as well and has worked hard to earn her future star status. She’s a pretty bright prospect all in all and it looks like now might be the time for them to pull the trigger on her push.
Carmella meanwhile is trying to get back into relevancy as her run since being drafted to SmackDown has been full of gaps where she doesn’t really do anything for a month at a time. She does have an angle of her own now, albeit one that’s a bit thrown-together. She and Dana Brooke emerged as serious tag partners a few weeks ago so as to immediately start teasing a break-up. It’s centered around the fact that Dana was perhaps more focused on qualifying for MITB than going after the Women’s Tag Titles. Indeed they lost their shot at the doubles belts but Brooke did score a major singles upset over Naomi to get into the six-way ladder match. Now Carmella is trying to duplicate her partner’s feat. Seems pretty clear that the idea is that Mandy Rose will win, leaving ‘Mella all the more bitter that Dana succeeded where she failed. A heel turn is imminent, in other words.
