WWE Friday Night SmackDown is soon at hand. We have a match with some intrigue tonight as Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak have a mystery partner in their six man tag team match against Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro. Here at the Overtimer, as always you can expect an in-depth coverage of the show. That means live results from the show as they come, plus links to detailed recaps of each segment, and of course a preview of everything we can expect to see here this evening. There is way more announced in advance for this show than usual so let’s get to it!
Daniel Bryan, Drew Gulak & ??? vs. King Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro
Sami Zayn is now one of many wrestlers who are staying home for the foreseeable future. He’s actually stated on record that we should not expect to see him anytime soon. What that might mean for the Intercontinental Championship I’m not sure, but it certainly means that his group is without a leader. In fact I’ll be listening closely to see if the Artist Collective name is even a thing anymore. Honestly if we wanna just play Shinsuke and Cesaro as a full-time tag team off of this, it would not break my heart in the slightest.
For now, Shinsuke and Cesaro are letting King Corbin lead them instead. This is just kind of a thing Corbin does, he finds heels with nothing better to do and makes them his lackeys for a few months. His alliance with Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode just kinda went away in the same vein that his various pairings with the likes of Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and the Revival came and went too. The king’s court is a fluctuating one.
The group, if you wanna call it one, have been continuing Sami’s feud with Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak, attacking the pairing on multiple occasions now. That led to this six-man tag in which Bryan and Gulak have themselves a mystery partner. It’s really hard to say who this might be given the limited roster. We don’t even have a clear picture as to who is and isn’t available. But given that Daniel Bryan seems to be in a stage of vanity booking himself to do whatever he wants and lend a hand to those who need a boost in the process, my sincere hope is that it’s Shorty G. Well actually my sincere hope is that it’s Chad Gable but you know what I mean… in any event, I think the babyface team wins tonight.
